turf removal project.

Good morning.
Nevada and the west as you may have heard is in the midst of a decade's long drought. And besides the main conservation measures we already have taken; Nevada passed a law last year that will ban all nonfunctional turf in the state. So that means, if it's not in your backyard, or in a park, school or golf course, it has to go.
Below is a view of our community, Sun City Aliante. 2000 + homes around a city owned golf course.
The black arrow is about where my home is. The red arrow is the Aliante Casino and hotel. The blue star is where they are building over 3000 new homes.  The purple star is where they are currently grading and putting in utilities for another large master community, Villages of Tule Springs, that when finished will have over 10,000 new homes. Anyway, the green circle is our community center including parking and the large fountain on the corner. Below is a closer view of the area in the green circle.
The colored areas are where we must remove all the grass and replace it with desert scape.
I'm a member of the Property and Grounds committee. We are tasked with this project by our board.
So, for the last 6 months, we've been working on the plans with our community landscaper, and here's the latest so far.....
The top pic is the area around our main building as it will look with the design we've worked on. All the little colored circles are different plants

And the above pic is the large fountain area out by the intersection, with the plants that we've selected to be planted.
Once our committee finishes with our work, it'll go to the board for their approval, or sent back to us for tweaks. We actually have a lot of time as the grass doesn't have to be removed until 2027.
Anyway, that's been keeping me a bit busy, especially since the committee voted me Chairperson. So now I also have to sit in on the executive meetings with the landscape company. But it's an interesting position and I'm happy to be a part of what it will look like when we're all done. We have a beautiful community, and I hope our work will enhance it.

A little vaca.

Good morning. My Mom is expecting to see some pics, so I have to do a post.   :-)

We've just returned from a little vaca. Several days in New Orleans, and then a 7 day cruise to the western Caribbean. Out ship was the Norwegian Breakaway.

This ship normally holds 3900 passengers and 1600 crew. We had all the crew, but just 1300 passengers. That made it very nice when we went to eat, drink, shows and even lounging by the pool. Plenty of space.

Here's our balcony room....

I'll post more pics when i have more time. I'm still unpacking!   :-)
