Vaccinations WORK!

Good afternoon.

Well, a LOT has changed since my last post 3 weeks ago. The vaccination rate has climbed, the infection rate has diminished, and as of June first, Vegas is completely back to normal! That means casino's, hotels, restaurants, stores, etc.  back to 100% capacity, no masks for the fully vaccinated, no social distancing, and no limitations on size of gatherings. Buffets are back, show's are coming back, and life is getting back to normal. 

Now, we still had to wear a mask to our dental cleaning appointment today, and I hear that airlines are still requiring them, but I'm thinking that will go by the wayside soon. 
 As vaccination rates fall all over the country, now that everyone that wants one can pretty much get one, Ohio show's the way with vaccination rates still high. The reason???? Apparently, people who don't want to get vaccinated, just need proper incentive. Ohio is giving out several  chances to win a million, just by getting vaccinated. And several full college rides to those under 18.   Brilliant! So, all the 'reasons' for not getting vaccinated disappear, when  you wave some cash in front of them.

Anyway, here's that giant Agave, finally blooming.....

It's a massive plant! So sad it dies when done flowering.

And we've been eating out, a lot! Mostly with many different neighbors at the 3100 grill at our golf course. Good food, reasonable, close by, and great views. We had lunch there today after our teeth cleaning. Needed to gunk up our mouth as quickly as possible!   :-)

Our community had a food truck Friday again 2 weeks ago, and this time, they had 6 trucks, and plenty of food.

We had a Cubano and a Spicy Steak sandwich. Both were delish!

I'm still walking every day, usually with a neighbor, Dave. Picking up mail, and watching 3 homes at the moment, with several more soon. People here are just as anxious to get going somewhere,  as I'm sure everyone is.  We have several trips planned. To Michigan in July, Flagstaff in August, New Orleans in October, and we just booked a cruise for next January. 

So, as life gets back closer to normal, I hope everyone that can, get's a vaccine. It's good for the country!

Finally! A post!

Good afternoon.

Well, I see it's been a month since my last post. I'm getting bad about posting. Don't know why, maybe just lazy. but anyway.......
 Life is slowly getting back to some sort of normal. The casino's are opening to 80%. Shows have returned, or are retuning in the next few months, and even buffets are starting back up.

We've had lunch numerous times at the 3100 grill. It's still been outside, but with more people than just Craig and I. And we go out a little more than just once or twice a week. Still wearing masks inside of course, but I suspect that will ease up as more people get vaccinated. 

I'm currently watching 3 houses, as more people here feeling freer to travel. It'll be 5 by the end of next month.

Everyone of my neighbors I've talked to have been vaccinated. Some Pfizer, some Modena, and some Johnson. No one has died, or gotten seriously ill. I have 3 neighbors that did have Covid before the vaccines, and even though they weren't hospitalized, they said it was the sickest they'd ever been.

And companies and casino's are doing what they can to encourage employees to get vaccinated.  Wynn, Encore and The Cosmopolitan gave out bonuses tied to the level of vaccination of their employees. As a result, they are now allowed to open at 100% capacity. So getting them vaccinated is good for business. 

And the CDC said cruise ships can return to American ports if the crew is 98% vaccinated, and customers 95%.  Maybe a cruise is in out future next Jan!

We went to a little Cinco de mayo party yesterday at Gloria and Dave's house Gloria made delicious Enchilada's! They're the couple that went on our Panama canal cruise a few years ago.  Great neighbors!

 And a house I'm watching on the golf course has this giant Agave getting ready to bloom! It must be 20 ft. tall! Unfortunately, once it's done blooming, the massive agave plant will die. But babies will come up from the roots. 

I still walk every morning. Many morning's with Dave. Sometime in the afternoon, but now the days are getting a little too hot for that. 

But life is good, here in the desert!

We have a community magazine for Sun City Aliante called The Breeze....
 

For this months issue, they asked residents for a picture of themselves at 5 years or younger. And a selection of those pics would be published in this months issue. Well, I made the cut!

A couple of days ago, our street had a block party!

About 25 neighbors showed up. We had pizza, chili, and way to many snacks. The weather was great, with party cloudy skies and low 80's. It was soo nice being able to socialize with people again. Especially since everyone was fully vaccinated. 

My house is the gray one across the street.

And speaking of that, we've booked a flight back to Michigan for July. Michigan is having another surge, but hopefully it will subside by July as more people get vaccinated. 

We also booked a trip to Flagstaff and New Orleans. We're ready to travel again!
 

Vaccinated and it feels so good!

Good afternoon.

I'm getting worse about posting. And it's not because I'm soo busy, I guess it's mostly lazy.  :-0

But here's my flowers that made it through our winter and are thriving!

We went there for a two night stay. Was nice to get out of town for a bit. And being fully vaccinated, we felt very safe. We were surprised to see how busy it was, especially since we were there mid week. But had a nice time and didn't lose too much money.

Our patio parties have started back up, now that all my neighbors are also vaccinated. We've also been back to the 3100 grill for patio dining, now that the weather has warmed up.

We also booked a flight back to Michigan this summer. Hopefully, by the time we go, Covid is even less a threat. 

But overall, retirement  life is good. And so is Vegas. 
 

A stay at Circa

Good morning.

About time I did a post or 2 or 3.

I'll start recently, and go backwards..   :-)

We spent a night downtown on Wednesday, at the new Circa Resort Casino and hotel.
 We got a corner room, and it was large!

    This is the view from our room, looking north of the hotel.

If you look toward the mountain in the distance, that is where our house is. 18 miles north of downtown.

And here is the reason for our hotel stay......

Our former neighbor and friend Barbie was in town with her sister.

She stayed on the strip a couple of nights, then out at our Aliante hotel, and then downtown at Circa. 

We were able to walk a few mornings while she was at Aliante, and we did lunch together each day. One afternoon, we hosted a meet and greet with about 15 neighbors in our driveway so they all could see Barbie.

It was real nice to see her again.
