Dem nabit Rabbits

Well, I've been on the hunt again.
Rabbit tracks all over the yard.
No matter how much I keep
an eye on this,
They find a breach in my security.
Kinda like the hackers trying to get
into our computers.
They just keep trying.
Now I've got chicken wire woven
thru all the trees and shrubs
around the perimeter of the yard.
But with the deer and raccoons,
and assorted other critters that can
climb fences, I have to be
diligent on keeping everything
secure.
but it always happens, there develops
a breach, and the rabbits find it quickly.
But this weekend,
I got lucky and nabbed a couple.
Number one, Sunday in the first pic,
and number 2 on Tuesday in
the second pic.
You'll notice the lack of snow in the
second pic. We had a freak but welcomed
warm front come thru. It hit 45
degrees on Monday and Tuesday.
It won't last. A cold front is coming
thru this evening,
And tomorrow's high will only be 18.
But we enjoy any nice weather we can get.
Still a long winter to go.
Why I trap the Rabbits?
Well, click on the last 2 pics,
and you'll see. They eat everything
in sight! The first pic was a Yucca.
Just stubs of leaves left.
The second is an Evergreen Euonymus.
You'll notice, no leaves left, and the bark
nearly gone. Fortunately, they'll come back.
But it'll take a couple of years to regain what it looked like this last year.
And don't worry, no harm came to the little beasts! They just became the latest participants in the Wayne Relocation Program!

  9. I had similar problems with squirrels when I wanted to feed the birds. There was no way I could bet rid of the squirrels who ate LOADS of bird feed. I had to stop feeding the birds... :(

Does the Wayne Relocation Program involve a trip in the car to a place very, very far away...

Look at the sweet bunny and it's not even close to Easter. I bet you'll have all kinds of pretty eggs in your yard. :)
