Guess where we are......

Yep! We're on our 12th mo-ho trip of the season.
And here's a couple of pics to give you an idea
where we might be.
This city just opened a brand new bridge.
An unusual one tower pylon bridge.
It replaces the lower bridge for the interstate highway,
though they'll keep that one for local traffic.
We've been over this new bridge twice so far this year.
Part of what is unusual about this bridge,
is that the tower has a unique
cruciform-shaped cross-section that features
glass panels on four sides,
which are lit with variable-color LED lights
at night to celebrate the city's long heritage
in the glass-making industry. Pretty cool huh?
Well, I think that's enough clues, so any guesses?

funny friday,

Another busy week at work almost done! And the forecast for the weekend looks great!
So on to our ff.........

An older, white haired man walked into a jewelry store one Friday evening with a beautiful young gal at his side.

He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.

The old man said, "No, I'd like to see something more special."

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over.

"Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000" the jeweler said.

The young lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.

The old man seeing this said, "We'll take it."

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the old man stated, "by check.

I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick the ring up Monday afternoon,"
he said.

Monday morning, the jeweler phoned the old man."There's no money in that account."

"I know," said the old man,

"But let me tell you about my weekend!"

Have a great weekend!

the weekend update

We had some good weather to finish up our weekend. I got some more clean-up done in the yard, Cleaned the inside of the mo-ho, and got up on the roof of the mo-ho and caulked everything in sight! Now I'll wait for the next rain to see if I fixed the leak. Craig and I mowed the yard.
I picked some green peppers and Craig made stuffed peppers to go with our oven fried Chicken. Yummy! If you've never tried Panko for coating you chicken, give it a try! I add Garlic powder, seasoning, and Parmesan cheese to it. You'll never use regular bread crumbs again!
I've also been busy downloading info about our next trip, Maumee Bay State Park, near Toledo, Ohio. One of the things we plan on, is visiting the Toledo Zoo. It's said to be one of the top 10 in the country. I'll let you know what I think. I've been to a few of the 'best', including the San Diego Zoo, the St Louis Zoo, and the National Zoo in D.C.
Now I'm off for another busy week at work. See you friday!

monday flower post

We had a cloudy dreary day yesterday, but I managed to get some things done.
Checked and filled all the tires on the mo-ho and car caddy. Checked the water levels in the house batteries. Put back all the stuff we took out when we went to Canada. Ran the generator. (I'm suppose to do it once a month, but it ends up being a couple) And even started cutting down spent perennials in the yard. I can't believe it's almost the end of September!
Craig of course spent most of the day doing bookwork and bills and laundry, but did help me wash the car and mo-ho.
And during hard rains,(like all of last weekend!) we are getting water coming in the mo-ho right behind where the windshield meets the roof. And I've caulked the windshield, and the marker lights, so I'm going up on the roof next and reseal that! I'll let you know if I get it fixed.
And now, some flowers that bloom late in the season.....

A white Japanese Anemone
Toad Lily
pink Japanese Anemone
And of course a variety of Sedums.

Sunday

Another work week done!
Came home from work yesterday,
and we fixed a couple of cocktails and
sat on the deck in the beautiful
warm (78 degrees) sunny afternoon.
For dinner , Craig made home-made pizza,
and we watched his Michigan State Spartans
dismantle Notre Dame!
A great end to a busy week!
Today we'll gas up the mo-ho for our next trip. (3 to go!)
Gas was $4.09 when we got home last week, and today it's $3.74.
A big difference when we'll need about 50 gallons!
Talk to you more later!

funny friday

I'm exhausted! I worked from 8 am to 7 pm yesterday. Did 12 haircut and blo-drys, 5 shampoo and sets, and 6 colors. And I'm back to work a 7:30 this morning, so I'm hitting the shower and out of here!
so on with our ff........

A maid asked for a pay increase.
The wife was very upset about this and asked: "Now, Maria, why do you want a pay increase?" Maria: "Well Señora, there are three reasons why I want an increase. The first is that I iron better than you."
Wife: "Who said you iron better than me?"
Maria: "Your husband said so."
Wife: "Oh."
Maria: "The second reason is that I am a better cook than you."
Wife: "Nonsense, who said you were a better cook than me?"
Maria: "Your husband did."
Wife: "Oh."
Maria: "My third reason is that I am a better lover than you."
Wife (really furious now): "Did my husband say that as well?"
Maria: "No Señora, the gardener did."

I bet she got the raise!

have a great weekend!

Trip #11

We've just returned from our 11th trip of the season.
Just a mere 3 more to go.
This trip took us to Canada for the first time
in our mo-ho.
We went to Pinery Provincial Park,
in Ontario, Canada. It was only about
a 3 hour drive from Lansing.
We wondered how long it'd take to get thru customs,
but there was almost no wait, (4 cars ahead of us)
and just 4 quick questions, and we were thru!

And anyone who lives in the northern
states knows it rained the entire weekend!
And not the scattered shower,
just rain, rain, and more rain!
But we didn't go for the weather,
so as usual, we find a way to have a good time.
Pinery Park has to be one of the largest
we've been to. This park is enormous!
With 5 separate camping areas.
It took us 4 different trys getting
into our site. They are all pull-thru sites,
put not well marked, all grass or sand,
and one electrical tower for 2 sites.
And our tower was way over by the next site,
so we had to maneuver the mo-ho around,
trying to get as close as possible.
We had just enough cord.!
Made a note, get another cord!
So, what do you do when it rains all day?
We're not that outdoorsy.
We go to the Casino!
They have one in Sarnia, so off we went!
And as usual, I don't know why we
keep going to them, (cause we always lose!)
but since we know that, we don't take
much money with us. We did have a very nice
lunch there looking out on the St Clair River,
which separates the US from Canada.
The second pic shows the view from our indoor seats.
The our door seating area was closed due to rain!
The first pic is giant windmills in the fields
on the way to the park.
The next 3 pics is the city of Stratford,
were we went the next day with off and on steady rain!
Stratford was a very picturesque town!
And after a delisious lunch,
(I had a shrimp,olive salad sandwich!)
we drove up to Goderich,
about an hour north of the park,
hopefully to see some breaks in the rain.
Ya, right! The only sun we saw was when
we were packing up to leave the next morning.
So not many pics this trip.
We were anxious to see how it would be
getting back across the border.
It's easier to get out of the states, than back in.
But the lines were fairly short.(6 cars ahead of us)
And the customs agent asked a few
questions and let us through!
It was almost too easy!
But I imagine, have passports helped!
Could you imagine how long we'd been there
if they wanted to search the entire mo-ho?
And they really need to put in wider lanes!
I hit the passenger mirror on a post and bent it down.
Fortunately, it's on a swivel base and was able to push it back up. Craig was not happy. He keeps telling me to slow down! I should let him drive this big bus! It's not like I tried to hit it on purpose!
So anyway, we made it there and back safely, so a good trip!

our mo-ho

Here's a few pics of the inside of our mo-ho. Taken while we were at Indiana Dunes State Park.

Doesn't it look comfy and spacious?
Slide-outs sure make a huge difference!
It really is a house on wheels!

funny friday

Okay, it's been a very busy week at the Salon. And I'm working later than usual today. So on to our ff....................
My internal medicine doctor referred me to a urologist.
To my surprise, the urologist was a female, beautiful, and unbelievably sexy looking.
She told me that I have to stop masturbating. I asked her why.
She said, 'Because I am trying to examine you.'
.
And with all our mo-ho trips, I thought this was also appropriate..................

Have a great weekend!

A flower post

Although summer is winding down,(is it just me or is it a lot colder than normal?) I still have flowers blooming in the garden. And here's a few........

A large stand of Joe Pye Weed.
A couple of different colors of helenium
Japanese Blood Grass
Garlic Chives in front of Autunm Joy Sedum
And a late bloomer, False Dragonhead
And speaking of the yard, we mowed it today, and I did a final season spraying the paths for weeds. We had a very dry August, and the yard looks pretty worn. But that's common for this time of year.
And a long day at work today. I start at 8 am, and won't finish till about 7 pm. And Thursday is almost as long. But that's what I need to do to have a 3 day weekend! So see you Friday!

Great Blue Heron

Ohhhh! Looky what we saw in the yard!

We were sitting in our TV room with patio doors looking out into the back yard, and down swoops a Great Blue Heron!

Click on the pic, and look where the red arrow points.

Here's a zoom pic of him/her standing very still in the pond. Thanks to him/her, we have very few frogs in the pond. We've seen him/her several times this summer.
These birds are practically as tall as me! They're huge! It must have stood there motionless for an hour before it flew off for othere feeding areas.

Sunday post

It's been a busy first day of my weekend.
We unloaded a bunch of stuff from the mo-ho in advance of our trip to Canada. If we get picked to be searched, we don't want any more stuff for them to look thru then they need to.
I also trimmed up our big old Crab Apple Tree.
As you can see in the pics,
the branches were hanging on the house.
So I got the ladder, and up on the roof,
and trimmed them way back.
And lucky me,
I almost slipped on a bunch of apples,
(this tree gets millions of 1 inch apples)
and almost lost my balance!
But I took out 3 armfuls of branches.
And cleaned out all the debris from the valley.
I also cleaned the bathroom,
(god I hate cleaning!)
So a busy first day off.
Tomorrow, we get some of our money
turned into Canadian for our trip.

And here's a couple of
pics of the yard.
First up, me in the shade garden
with some potted Coleus.
(sorry for the fuzzy pic,
Craig can't hold the camera still!)
Then,
me with my Sedum Garden.
I have over a dozen varieties in here.

And I'll talk to you more later!

Oh..... and after Craig did massive bookkeeping,
(quarterly taxes!)
He fixed a delicious Swiss Steak and sauteed mushrooms
and mashed potatoes!

Funny Friday

Another busy work week almost done! So on with our ff.........

It's a picture of a great white shark. Let's do lunch!
Craig got a chuckle seeing this, cause he's also a Jaws fan.

Have a great weekend!

more trip pics

A few more pics of our trip.

This is a glass block fountain tower in Milliniuem Park.
There are 2 on oppisite sides of the very shallow pool.
Notice how the kids love playing in it!

a ship coming in at Navy Pier.

This is their giant outdoor amphitheater.
This is where Oprah is having her season premiere
with 150 Olympians.

And back at Indiana Dunes, the beach
from the dune between it and the campground.

Isn't this a beautiful beach?

And of course, yours truely!

Click on this pic and
look very close, and
you'll see the Chicago
skyline in the background.
Just shows how close we were to the city!

As I downloaded pics from the camera, I find this one of my feet....
I'm beginning to wonder if Craig has a foot fetish.......hmmmmm

trip # 10!

Yep! we just returned from our 10th trip, Indiana Dunes State Park, with a day trip to Chicago!

Surprisingly, this is gonna be a Craig picture post! He does not like his picture taken, but I somehow got a few pics of him in Chicago!
We had a great time as usual. (But it doesn't take much to entertain us!)
And here's a few pics of Craig as I promised...
Here we are at Millennium Park where we had lunch at the Park Grill.. ( the bean is in the background) Did I mention they have really good food? And it's a great place to people watch, being right on Michigan Ave.

And here we are at Navy Pier! In the background is the Beer Garden, and free live music all summer on the weekends. And boy was it hot! But we had a nice cool shade site with a lake breeze and beer!!

And finally, at the beach, at the camp ground, a pic of Craig after I told him, no, you won't see any shark attacks here. There are no sharks in Lake Michigan!

More trip pics later!
