funny friday

For today's edition of funny Friday, I've run across a couple of interesting things that I, of course, "steal" from other blogs, Which I read tooo many! They are called Blog Barnacles. They are fun things you can "stick" in your blog.

First up is......

Now, just how did they figure that out? And if my blog is worth $54,760.38, how do I sell it? Who would buy it? I mean I can always start another blog, not really that hard to do. But it's not like I have a bazillion readers that would make it ad worthy. But any takers out there?

next up is .........

$4550.00The Cadaver Calculator - Find out how much your body is worth

Now this was a bit more interesting as they ask you questions about age and lifestyle. Hmmm.......Maybe I won't be cremated. I wonder if I could take out a reverse life loan? I mean once I dead, I don't care what happens to my body. And how would I advertise ?

And last is......

Online Dating

As if I needed to tell anyone that!

This blog even bores me at times!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Our motor home is packed, and after work today we're off to Indiana Dunes State Park and Chicago!

problem solved!

The folks at the ford dealership were great! They got the motor home in right away and found the problem. A connection under the gas tank that's hard to reach, didn't get pushed in enough. easy fix and quick! Checked every thing else out, looking good. We are now ready for our next trip. Off to Indiana Dunes State Park. We'll take a day trip into Chicago, since it's less than an hours drive, and partake in the "Taste". It's this massive food festival in Grant Park, with music, entertainment, and of course, lots of food! Great fun! Hope to have lots of pics!

OH NO!

Here's another update!
We were checking all the motor home systems, getting ready for our next trip, and find we now have NO tail lights, OR brake lights, OR rear turn signals, OR back-up lights! And how they messed this up is besides me! SO, we will take it back first thing in the morning to get it fixed. Even though we don't have an appointment. They better work us in! So much for the tech who thought he might have the original problem fixed!
Craig is NOT happy!
We are suppose to leave on Friday, after work, so we need this fixed right a way.
Hopefully, it's an easy fix. Ya Right!

update!

Picked up the motor home yesterday after work.
Talked to the tech.
He was quite puzzled he was not able to find a short.
He showed me a stack of wiring diagrams.
I'll only bore you with 2.
He went thru the diagrams explaining to me every thing he checked and did. While he was talking , my eyes started glazing over and I heard myself saying, uhuh.....okay.......ya.......
I mean he could have been speaking Vulcan for all I knew!
He then went on to tell me a plan of course.
He said he may have fixed the short just by moving all the wires he did while checking everything.
So he wants me to drive it, and see if it happens again.
If it does, he wants to divide the front from the back with 2 fuses, and try to narrow down the problem. See which end goes out.
And then do it again between 2 more sections. And so on till he gets it down to one thing, which could take some time since it only blows when it's raining.
He also suggested adding a new wire from the tail lights to a switch on the dash, creating a new line and fuse, so if it did blow again, I could hit the switch, and they would run on the other line, so I would at least have the tail lights.
Rewiring the entire lighting system would be very expensive, so he's trying to fix the problem, without major costs.
I can see my readers eyes stating to glaze over so I'll end this now.

funny friday

Hello everyone! Another busy week at work. No, our motor home fuse issue isn't fixed yet. But we're picking it up this afternoon so we can get it stocked and ready for the following weekend. Will talk to the tech when we pick it up to see what he's done, and what else he has in mind. We'll have to schedule another time to take it back. But I still plan on using it this summer. Spent way too much on this to let it sit. And the only thing I really might need is the tail lights. We still have brake lights and turn signals. Craig found some battery powered, LED ,emergency lights we can hook to the back, if it's real rainy or foggy. But we're getting to the time of year in Michigan, where that's far and few between. So we'll take out trips and get it fixed when we can.
For this funny Friday post, I'll share some pics I got from my crazy Florida friend.

Ya, this looks safe!

The smiley face is a nice touch!

Couldn't they have worded this differently?

hehe

And finally...........

One sign that you're spending way too much time at the computer.

Have a great weekend!

OH,NO, I've been tagged again!

Damn!
It happened again!
I've been tagged for a meme!
Don't these people know I hate memes?
But,... okay,...... I think I have to do it because it's some type of blogger code.
I can thank Jamie for this. I will get even........
So here it is...... It's called Pieces of Eight.
The Rules:
List 8 things about yourself. At the end of the post, tag and link to 8 other people. Leave a comment at those sites, letting them know they’ve been tagged, and asking them to come read the post so they know what to do.

This is my 8 things about myself.

1. Out of 6 kids, 5 boys and 1 girl, I'm the tallest. 6ft
2. I raised Gerbils when I was 12. Had 35 before my mom had enough of it, and made me get rid of them all.
3. I was president of our Junior Achievement company. I was also the second highest seller, after the kid whose mom sold Avon.
4. I've performed in 2 community plays, Unsinkable Molly Brown and Carousel. I played bit parts in both. I was asked to try out for the lead in Carousel, until the director heard my voice.
5. I'll eat almost anything! I have 2 conditions for food. 1. I don't want it looking at me. 2. I don't want it moving.
6. My first job was delivering newspapers when I was 10. My second job was working in the celery fields. My third was a dishwasher while I was in high school.
7. I tried joining the navy when I was 21, but didn't pass the physical. High blood pressure( I was nervous) and bad eyesight( I've since had Lasik)
8. I HATE SPIDERS!
To those who accept this meme, ....... My great uncle who owned the restaurant where I washed dishes, made the best pie!, a pineapple pecan creme pie that is to die for. I'll give you the recipe if you ask nice.

What a week!

Just a quick post!

It has been the busiest week of the entire year at work!
I'm not complaining though, more work means more money when your self employed!

And I just got my new health insurance rate for the coming year. A $50 per month increase!
I am now paying $388.00 per month for health insurance! AND.... it does not cover dental, optical, or prescriptions. I also have a $1500.00 deductible and a $1000.00 co-pay.

So between Craig and I we are paying..........
$776.00 per month!

When does it get to a point where people will no longer be able to afford it?

Sorry to yell, but it just seems the harder you try to get ahead, the more they beat you down!
I just wonder how an average family can afford health care.
Jeez, the gas prices are bad enough!
okay, I'm done now.

Niagara Falls

Hi all!
Back from New York!
I tell ya the drive was horrible! I've never seen so much road work! What planned on being a 7 1/2 hour drive, turned into a 9 hour drive. But we made it home with little mishap. We kept blowing a fuse that controls the tail lights, dash lights and our top marker lights. Replaced the fuse twice and it promptly blew again. It was a foggy morning, so we must be getting moisture in somewhere, shorting out and blowing the fuse. So, until the fog lifted, we had to drive with our emergency flashers. When we got home and everything dried out, we checked every light by pouring water on it and of course, nothing happened. So next week we'll take it in and see if they can find it. I'm not too hopeful, but I've got to have tail lights!
At least nothing serious happened like we saw at a gas stop. There was this beautiful Dynamark motor home and something on the roof didn't look right. Found out they went under a low bridge, and ripped the roof top air conditioning units and vent covers right off!
They were not a happy couple!
So a blown fuse wasn't looking too bad.

Now about our trip to Niagara Falls!
We've been there before, about 25 years ago, but they are still an awesome sight! Just an amazing amount of water flowing over the edge! We were on the American side this time. Not quite as good a views as the Canadian side, but still awesome!

Here's Craig in front of the Horse Shoe Falls And the American Falls. We were on Goat Island that divides the two Falls, with Canada across the river.
For the rest of the pics look here. Niagara Falls

This last pic is me with my Beaners cup. The story behind this is Beaners is a local coffee shop. They have a board where they put pics of people with their Beaners cup from all over the world. So of course I had to add mine!

Live from New York!

Good morning all from the rolling hills in beautiful
Western New York!
This post comes from Jones Pond,
near Angelica New York!

I'm writing this post on a picnic table by the office.
They don't have wi-fi thru out the campground,
so I hoofed it to the office to write this and do a little surfing.

It's a bit cool this morning, 52 degrees.
there are quite a bit of tenter's here,
I'm glad our mo-ho has a furnace.
I'm way past ruffing it.
The motor home is the way to go!
But it is a very nice campground.
The largest sites I've seen so far!
Here's our mo-ho and Craig at our spacious site.

The entire campground is about a mile an a half
from the front office to the back section.
It's absolutely HUGE!
And we're about half way back. So we're getting some good walking.
As with most campgrounds we've been at, this one has a lot of seasonals.
Today were off to Niagara Falls! Hope to take lots of pics to share.
Will post more when we get back.
bye for now.

more of the yard!

Now that the yard sale is over,
and the yard has been cleaned up and weeded,
I can now enjoy the rest of the summer.
Oh, there will be more weeding,
but if you look at my pics,
you'll see that the perennials,
once grown, fill in most of the spaces,
not giving weeds much room to grow.
And all I have yet to do, is wax the motor home
and cars. But I can do that between our mo-ho trips.
Which, by the way, our next is to Niagara Falls!
And we made more than enough money
from the plant sale to cover the gas and campground!
And I did learn a tip from the sale.
One customer, who works down the road,
and came to last years sale,
happened to drive by on the day of the sale,
going to her dad's house.
But she came later in the day and
missed most of the good stuff.
So I got the idea, next year I'll put a sign out front,
advertising the upcoming sale about a week before.
She said she'd been looking for this years sale.
I also took her e-mail address,
to let her know ahead of time also.
I also started an e-mail list from
other people who came late.
So if I do it again next year, I'll be better prepared.

And of course, I'm adding more pics to my yard album.

1 and done!

The plant sale is over!

It started a 9am, and ran to 1pm.
The weather was iffy,
scattered rain showers.
Fortunately, they were mainly light.
Started out with 230 plants,
divided from my yard.

By 11am, I had sold 146!
By 1pm, I sold another 46!
Leaving me with only 38 left!
Grand total...........$475.00!

So.... despite the weather,
people came out to shop!
But I priced the plants to sell.
Nothing over $5.00.

And the leftovers?
I put an add on Freecycle,
and Craigslist for free plants,
that should get rid of the rest.
Would hate to compost them.

Planned on taking pics of the sale,
but just got too busy!
Craig helped by hauling the customers plants to their cars,
while I took the money and answered questions about the plants.
And like I said, all the proceeds go to our mo-ho gas fund!

Let the sale begin!

Okay now, I'm ready for the Big Sale!

I've written name tags for all 215 plants,
and printed up pictures of the plants that
won't be in bloom yet,
people want to see what the flowers will look like.
I attached them to plastic stakes to put in pots.
There's a chance of rain Sunday, so I got some sandwich
Ziploc baggies to slide over the pics, just in case.

I also got 2 vinyl table covers, folded them to banner size, put plastic grommets in the corners with cords attached, and painted them. Now I have large bright signs to put out on our busy road to attract more customers.
The only advertising I've done is signs in our Salon, at Beaners Coffee Cafe, and on Craig's List, so the road signs should help.

On the down side, I picked up something from the yard. I've got a rash of some sort on the back of my leg, and also on the back of my left hand. And my right eye is swollen on the lid and below. Not a pretty sight! Hope it clears up before the sale! It's freaked out some customers, but I tell them I was working in the yard and must have touched something and rubbed my eye, just a little infection, nothing contagious. Gezz, people think you should run to the doctor for every little thing!

Wish me luck!
