my latest midweek post.

Good afternoon.
Here's a tall cactus blooming I saw on one of my morning walks....
The cactus was over 6ft tall.
And here's some rocks my neighbor Gloria painted......

They will be added to my riverbed.
And my latest puzzle.....
And the current temp and humidity as I write this......
We're having our July weather a little early. But it's suppose to get back near 100 by next week.
Only getting mail for one neighbor right now. And since she forwarded her regular mail, it's just the ads and junk that I toss in the recycling bin. I am watering her outdoor patio plants a couple times a week. Still haven't been to a casino yet. Don't like what neighbors are telling me about not social distancing and wearing masks. Caesar's released a statement today saying all guests must wear masks. It's about time after seeing all these crowds of people not wearing them.
Anyway, happy staying home for the most part.

Another midweek post.

Good morning.
I made another batch of breakfast muffins....
I used Southwestern shredded potatoes, reduced fat cheddar cheese, turkey sausage, and of course, eggs.
And here's a little something I saw yesterday when I went to get the mail......
It's sitting at the base of our group mailboxes.
I've been seeing painted rocks here and there on my morning walks also. Someone is using their home time to paint rocks and place them in strategic locations throughout the community. Of course, it could be more than one person doing them. It's a good size community.  Each time I see one, it does bring a smile to my face.
Went and did our grocery shopping yesterday. The store wasn't near as busy as it has been, and seemed fairly well stocked. Except for hand sanitizer, and wipes. But we have enough of those right now since we have been able to find them here or there. Seems to be plenty of toilet paper, paper towels and water. Still can't figure why people were hoarding those items. There also seems to be plenty of meat, even with the supposedly shortage from many processing plants closed.
So, life goes on here during the pandemic. I'm amazed at the people I see on TV that just don't seem to think it's anything. I guess they think all the deaths are just propaganda, it's not going to effect them, and the doctors they interview are paid actors. I don't understand, and probably never will.

Monday post.

Good morning.
Another beautiful, sunny day. 99 for the high.
Some pics from my walk with Gloria and Dave, a couple days ago.

They sometimes take a small bag of dog food to feed the baby geese. There are still 5 babies, but I guess you'd have to call them teenagers since they are getting so big!
And I repotted a neighbor's Aloe....
She took a division of her big plant and potted it. I've been watering it while she is back in Minnesota for the summer. It's doing very well, and I thought it would soon out use the little bit of dirt that she put in it. So, I gently pulled it out and added more soil.
Hope it doesn't die now!   :-/
And I finished that big puzzle....
It was challenging, but very enjoyable.
This morning, after my walk, and then another walk with Gloria, I blew out all the leaves in the back yard and bagged them up for bulk pick-up tomorrow.
Craig is doing laundry today, and I ordered a few things online. Getting used to not going to stores.   :-)
That's my post for today.

midweek update!

Good afternoon.
Another sunny hot day today.  Love the Heat!  And no humidity, or skeeters!
Here's the latest puzzle I'm working on....
This big boy takes the entire table! Got it from a neighbor. It's 1000 pieces. Should take me awhile!
And another pie......
This one's a Cherry pie. Yummy!
And we went and got a stand for the Bromeliad.....

Since it looks like we're going to keep it awhile, wanted something a little nicer than the little folding table we were using.
So, we're getting more comfortable going to stores, but we haven't gone to a casino, or sit down restaurant yet. Maybe next week for the restaurant. Not too anxious for a casino, after we watched the news when they reopened the strip and saw crowds of people with no masks on. It doesn't hurt that we're a couple of homebodies anyway, and really like being home.
Craig is getting antsy for a road trip. Maybe in the early fall. But I suppose we need to get used to eating at restaurants again first.
Well, that's it for now.....

our new rugs....

Here's the new rugs with the room all put back together....
Happily, they match the color in the window film really good!

Craig wanted a runner under the TV and cabinet.  I think it looks nice.
A nice change from what we had before. Freshens up the whole house!
Another beautiful day in the desert! Sunny and 88!

It's the weekend!

Good morning.
It's the weekend, not that it really matters when you are retired.   😉
Our weather has returned to normal, and will be a little below normal for the next week. 90 today, and 80's for the next several. Nice!   😎
Our normal high is 94.
Here's that Bromeliad, I got from Barbie, that she got from a neighbor when her husband died last Nov.
The little offshoots are called pups. I removed 2 a little over a month ago and planted them, and they promptly died.  😕
Not sure if I took them out too soon, or maybe overwatered them. Anyway, I have 3 more coming up, and I will leave them. From what I read, the parent only blooms once and after producing these offshoots, will eventually die, and the pups will grow. So, I'll see how that works out.   😐
I did put it in a slightly bigger and nicer pot, since I'm now planning on keeping it around awhile.
And here's my latest puzzle....
This was a fun one!
And we did get our new area rug. Here's Craig vacuuming it....
The colors are exactly as the picture was! That's the main issue with buying things like this online you're never really sure if the color is going to look the same.
The coloring is quite different from our last one, so a very nice change. We let it lie on the floor in the middle of the room to 'flatten' out overnight, and will put it all together today. The pad came as the same size, so had to cut a couple of inches off the 2 sides. I read the pad should be about 1 inch smaller on all sides than the rug.
And as I get use to the new blogger, I've enlarged 2 of the 4 pics. Do you like them bigger? Or normal?

foodie post

Good afternoon.
It's a little hot this week. 107 today. But it was nice this morning during my walk. 81 and 1% humidity.
Should be back to 'normal' temps of around 90 by this weekend.
Here's a dinner pic we had last week.

It's beef and broccoli, but we used pork instead of beef, and it was just as good!
Then here's the pie I cooked....
Blueberry/cranberry pie, with a pecan crumb topping.
I know, all my pies have a pecan crumb topping, but Craig likes them that way.   :-)
And of course, with whipped cream! Yum!
I've also ordered new area rugs for the living room. The one we have is getting really matted. Didn't know until too late I was suppose to put a pad under it. They will hopefully be here later this week. With all that's going on with the virus, weather, and riots, they have suspended their delivery guarantees. So I should get them between today, and next Monday, according to the tracking e-mails.

And that's another post!

walking pics.

Good afternoon. More pics from my walks.....
Baby geese by the pond....
And here's my little cactus when it bloomed.....

And the Chaste trees are in full bloom
I don't have one in my yard, but they are all over the community.
The weather continues to be sunny and around 100. Just perfect for this time of year! As I keep saying, low humidity makes all the difference! Gave ourselves haircuts again last week. And, I made another pie. Pics to follow.
Our casino's open on Thursday, and I bet they'll be busy. But I won't be there for a while. No hurry to be in any kind of crowds. And I'll let the casino's work out all the kinks before I go.
That's my post for today!
