what a week

Good morning.
I've just returned from cleaning the Salon.
It's been a l-o-n-g week.
Fortunately, it was a slow week, as Wed. afternoon, I started to get a scratchy throat.
I knew what that meant, I was coming down with a cold.
All my colds follow the same pattern. First, a scratchy throat followed by a sore throat, followed by exhaustion, and finally  followed by a raspy voice as I actually feel better then.
By Wed. night, I had a full blown sore throat. Got up Thursday, exhausted. Told Craig I was staying home and cancelled my appointments.
Spent most of the day in bed.
Friday, I felt a little better and dragged myself to work.
They say you shouldn't go to work with a cold, but when customers want their hair cut, they don't care. I warned everyone that came in but none left.
So I managed to get through the rest of the week. Like I said, I was glad it was a slow week.
I'm feeling much better today, but still have a cough and runny nose.
And after spending 3 days on the phone with Blue Cross, Craig is hoping they finally have his medi-gap policy straightened out. He was billed for the regular F plan instead of the F high deductible. I don't know why it took so many people and so much time to straighten it out, but it did.
Anyway, that was our week, and I'm planning to relax this weekend and do nothing.

Sunday, Sunday

Good morning.
I've just returned from cleaning the Salon. It was a decent week.
On the way to the salon I saw a beautiful full moon. Tried to take a pic, but it turned out fuzzy. Probably needed a stand for the camera to hold it still for lowlight shooting.
Last Tues. we changed insurance for the cars and apt. We've had Auto Owners for about 6 years now and the premiums just keep going up. Craig did some online research and we've switched to The Hartford.
Between the 3 cars and apt. We're saving nearly $800 a year for the exact same coverage.   :-)
Another plus, we can use them when we move to Vegas. Auto Owners doesn't insure in Nevada.  I knew we should have switched earlier, but I wanted my little accident from 2011 to be off my record.
They say you should look every 3 years or so for new insurance as the companies are always trying to compete for new customers.
And for a mid week snack at work, I roasted up some cauliflower....
Just a little olive oil, garlic, and paprika, pop it in the oven at 400 for 20 minutes or so turning once, than sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Tasty!
Craig also made a breakfast casserole for dinner Tuesday, with leftovers....
Eggs, ham, potatoes and cheese.  Yummy!
And, our Michigan State Spartans beat Maryland to end a 3 game losing streak wearing these shocking green uniforms...
They usually wear a forest green color like this....
Maybe they should wear shocking green more often.  :-)
And that's it for now.

comfort food

Good morning.
We're having bitter cold as yesterday reach a high of only 15.  :-/
Soooo, after our usual Monday running, we came back to the apartment and stayed put.
Craig did more book work, and I did some cleaning and played on the puter.
And on a bitter cold day, nothing is better than some good home cooking comfort food. And that's what Craig made for dinner...
Meatloaf and scalloped potatoes with a side of steamed zucchini. Yum!
Our teeny tiny kitchen is working out just fine. I just have to keep on top of the dishes as Craig prepares each dish.
And I'm certainly not missing going out in this cold and shoveling snow.  Life is good.  :-)

short

Good morning.
I've just returned from cleaning the Salon.
We ended up having a pretty good week in the Salon.
I finally booked another trip to Vegas for mid spring.
Craig should be finishing up all his year end stuff this weekend.
Not much else to say.

cold

Good morning.
Well, winter has finally hit!
Here's the view from our apartment.
It was all of 15 for the high yesterday. At least I don't have to go out and shovel.   :-)
If it wasn't for work or groceries, I could easily become a stay at home and hibernate person. I really dislike the cold. Can't wait to move to Vegas. Now Vegas isn't very warm in the winter, but their winter is much shorter and no where near as cold!
Anyway, Craig's been very busy with all his year end paperwork stuff, and I've been staying out of his way.   :-)
I've been fixing dinner, and playing on the puter. Also been trying to find another flight out to Vegas for later this spring. Prices aren't looking very good, but I keep checking.
And that's it for now....

year end stuff

Good evening.
What to say.......
Not much.   :-)
It was a very busy two days in the Salon.
Cleaned the Salon on Sunday morning as usual.
Stayed in for most of today after I cleaned the Salon.
Craig has been doing a lot of year end paperwork.
I did the year end inventory of retail and cleaned the apartment and fixed dinner. Crock pot pork chops. Weather has gotten cold and snowy.
Booked our 'free' room for our next trip to Vegas.
Staying at Excalibur. The game isn't giving as many free nights as they used to. Vegas has been really rebounding so they don't see the need to offer as many 'free' comps as they had before. There are currently no 'free' nights for weekends. Fortunately, we always need a Tuesday night.
Now, time for bed....................

Craig's birthday trip

Good evening.
We've just returned from our latest trip to Vegas. It was a long day getting there as we had to drive to Detroit to catch the plane. It was delayed. Got to Vegas and missed the bus. On holidays it only runs every hour so had to wait for the next one. But got there safe and returned home safe, so a good trip.   :-)
This was Craig's 65th birthday trip and he wanted to do the Slotzilla zoom line.
It's a 12 story tower built at one end of Fremont Street in downtown Vegas.
It goes from the tower under the canopy all the way down Fremont Street. About 6 blocks.
Can you see us on the right side of the pic flying above the crowds?

It was great fun!
The rest of the weekend we took it easy, visiting with neighbors and enjoying our home there.
And yes, we had coats on. Vegas isn't very warm in the winter. Mid 50's. But sure beats Michigan!
Now I'm tired and going to bed.
