A new home

Good morning.
Boy! I'm behind on posting! Don't know what I've been doing, but I'll do a post every day for a bit to catch up.
First off, here's a pic of my new homepage on my puter......

I had a home page on Netvibes for quite a while, but they have been messing up stuff, so I thought it was time to find a new 'home'. I like a page that looks like a newspaper I guess. I want stuff arranged in columns and  I want to see everything important to me at a glance. I want to be able to add, take away, or rearrange things to my individual liking. Google, Yahoo and those don't allow much of what I wanted, but I did find all of that on protopage.com.
I like I can add the weather for Vegas and Lansing. I like I can add a sticky note. I added a bookmark widget for the main web pages I go to. I even have a pic I can change daily if I want, and it's easy to do!
I like I can change the background, I can make columns or free layout, and even change colors for the different widgets. They don't have quite the variety of widgets that Netvibes has, but that was what the problem there was. Sometimes, widgets would work, sometimes not. Sometimes they'd disappear.
But overall, I'm happy with what they have here. And since it's free, I shouldn't complain at all!   🌝
And speaking of change. This is the first I've used the new blogger platform. Pretty nice once I got some of it figured out. Another learning curve!
Anyway, I'll try and do another post later or tomorrow.

a cactus update

Goof afternoon.
The weather has been perfect! Sunny, 80's and 1% humidity!  Lovin the desert!
Here's some giant cactus on the casino grounds that are starting to flower.....
You may have to click on the pics to see them better.
The tall thing to the left of the light post, on the other side of the driveway, is a century plant getting ready to bloom. I'll try to get a pic when it does. And you can see barriers across the drives to keep people away from the casino while it is closed. Though I've read they may start to reopen some of the casino's  June 1st.
And, another puzzle......
A neighbor gave me this tiny cactus some weeks ago. It was dug up and laying in a bucket with some smaller ones. I had a small spot, so I took them and stuck them in the ground.
Well, despite being ripped out of the ground, laying loose rooted in a bucket, It must be doing okay because it's getting ready to bloom!
The cactus is only about 5 inches across. And it looks like the flower might be bigger than the cactus!
Can't wait to see!
We haven't ventured out to a restaurant yet. Guess we're waiting for them to get their protocols ironed out. So other than my walk in the morning's, and an occasional trip to a store once or twice a week, we've been pretty much home. And it's been just fine.  I've actually got some stuff done.I've been putting off. Went through my file cabinets, and threw out old papers, and reorganized things.
Got our new phones figured out, and really like them! Got our new cases for them yesterday. I'm also getting more used to ordering stuff online. I'm finding that a lot of what I buy, I can get cheaper online, even with shipping, which most of the time is free. Aspirin, supplements, cleaning stuff, face cream. Really, a lot of it is cheaper online! I may end up not going out, except for groceries, and to eat once and a while!
And that's it for today!

Wear your mask!

Good morning.
About time I did a post! Of course, with a stay at home order, there isn't a lot to talk about.
But here is a pic along Aliante Blvd I took while walking one morning.
Certainly doesn't look like desert, huh. I've been amazed at all the grass and trees, and bushes and plants they plant all over. But the water authority seems to think it's all okay. Our water usage is actually lower now,  than it was 15 years ago, and our population has grown considerably. That's due to all the conservation efforts they put into place years ago.
Here's the latest puzzle.....
And I saw this huge cactus flower the other morning....
And this morning, I blew out the front yard.....
We have two trees in the front. One on each side of the driveway. They are both evergreen, but one loses some leaves in the fall, and the other in the spring. So two to three times a year, I have to 'clean up' the front and the back. I bagged these up and they'll go in the bulk trash pickup next Tuesday.
We got some new masks I ordered online and they are much more comfortable than the ones I made.
We also went to the nursery and got some summer flowers for our two pots in the back yard, and a new bush to replace one that just isn't doing good in the spot I had it. Got them planted yesterday. Will try to remember to take a couple of pics.
They've started to open some restaurants, nail and hair Salons, and more retails stores. All with social distancing and with sanitizing protocols. Looks like they may open some casino's in early June. I hope people follow the rules and wear their masks. That's the only way we'll be able to keep this virus at bay until a vaccine is ready.
Stay home, and stay safe!

my new phone.

Good afternoon.
Well, my Mom shamed me into doing a post, since my last post was April. To be fair, it was April 30th, and today is just the 5th of May, but to keep Mom happy, here I am.   :-)
Here's a very bad pic of my new phone.......
It's on the far right. My old phone is in the center, and my very old phone, (Craig's phone) is on the far left. It's amazing even as they get bigger screens, (my new one has a 5.7 in screen) they get thinner.
And even though it's a 'new' phone, it's not a new model. It's actually a 2018 model. A Motorola G6, or Moto G6 as they call it. I never buy the newest model. The prices are ridiculous!
But I like it. I've mostly had LG phones, but they are basically all the same, somewhat. It has  a better camera, faster, better internet connection and so on. It's so nice I can buy it online, get it delivered to our door, go online to activate it and transfer the number and contacts over to the new one. So easy! The biggest issue is because it's a 2 year old phone, I spent half a day doing all the 'updates' that were put out since this phone came out. But even that wasn't that bad. I do have a lot of extra time!   :-)
Tomorrow, we make our weekly trip to the grocery store. That's probably one of the biggest adjustments since the stay at home order. We used to go out nearly every day. Mostly because we just wanted to get out of the house for a bit, and partly because, we never planned our meals very far ahead and had to get things. But now, we plan the entire weeks meals, put a list together, and go out just once to get everything. And it's working out fine. There seems to be enough tp and paper towels now, just not any wipes or sanitizing stuff. Although we did snag a bottle of Clorox last week, so we can make our own spray and wipes. There still seems to be some spotty shortages on the shelves here and there, but for the most part, looks like they have plenty of food. Although I see they are going to be limiting the amount of meat you can buy. Not a problem there either, as we have a freezer fairly full of meat. And if meat becomes that scarce, I guess we'll become vegetarians. Maybe I'll finally lose that last 10 lbs!   :-)
