Weather and taxes

Good morning.
Yesterday was a very productive day! It was beautiful outside! Upper 50's, sunny and no wind. It was so good to be out in it. So, I started on my spring clean-up. First thing I do in the spring, is clean up all the sand and gravel that's thrown on the grass by the road from the plows and my snow blowing. As you can see in the first pic, almost no grass to see.

Oh look! There is grass under there! I spent a good chunk of the day on this. Hauled away around 6-7 wheelbarrows full. Where did I take it you ask? We have a small creek that runs along our lot line. It has a pretty good drop along it's length. I've semi-dammed it in several spots with rocks and broken concrete to slow erosion. I add the gravely sand mixture to those areas to fill in the gaps. Works very well.
After I completed that, I trimmed the Little Princess Spirea bushes. (yes, that really is the name of the variety) Bushes that bloom in the summer should be trimmed in the early spring before any growth starts. They were getting too tall and wide for the area they are in. And Spirea's are easy to trim.
And after that, I went way out behind the evergreens at the back of the yard to see my Pussy Willows were in bloom, so I cut a bunch of them to take to the Salon.

So, where was Craig during all this? Taxes. He spent nearly the entire afternoon on them. And were we pleasantly surprised. According to Turbo Tax, which he uses every year, there were several new deductions we could take thanks to the stimulus. So were getting a bit more back than expected. Yaa!
We then finished the day with cocktails, dinner,(Panko encrusted baked chicken with fried cabbage and fried potatoes) and a couple of more episodes of Spartacus. I just can't seem to get into Idol this season. I'm just not very impressed with the final 12.
Oh, and we did fill out our census form. We got the short one this time. Very easy.
And that's it for now!

  1. I would hate having to get all that sand and gravel up every year. That sounds like a PIA. Hope you have a good day.-- Randy
