The Great Columbian Gorge!

On the way to Mt. Hood, We travel up the Columbia River. This River, (second only to the Mississippi), cut a wide swath thru the Cascades Mountain range. So it in a sense creates a wind tunnel where the winds off the Pacific funnel down the gorge. So it is always very windy thru here!

On the way up the river,
we passed this outlook
on the edge of the cliff.

Click on the pic and
look closely at the
middle right side
to see a building on
the ledge!

The second
pic shows it better!

There was no sign of
exactly what the
building was.

It looked to be an
observation structure,
but it was all locked up.
Maybe because it was
later in the season.

Boy, it was so windy,
And much cooler temps!

Craig had a hard time
standing still taking
the last picture!
