gas prices

Continuing on with the last post.
It's interesting to see how much
gas prices change across the country.
you can find gas prices for any where.
There even have this color coded
gas price map to see how the prices
vary across the country.
Here in Michigan,
we seem to have some of the lowest.
The west coast the highest.
Canada's gas is even higher!
According to Ken in Montreal, it's because they
have much higher taxes then in the states.
Here in the states the price for gas ranges from
$1.82 -$2.94. In Canada, $2.66 - $3.85
The map shows the price in liters. I converted them to gal. for comparison.
Maybe they do liters to fool them into thinking their gas is cheap. "Oh it's only $.80 a liter!"
Let's see..... I have a 75 gal gas tank in the mo-ho,.... That would be 75 x 3.785 = 283.875 liters!
Wow, that seems like a lot! I think I'll stick with gallons!

  1. Whenever my sister comes into "the states" as she now calls the US (they live in a suburb of Toronto) they fill up on gas and fill a spare gascan.
Just this morning it finally went down to $1.99/gallon here in the BigD, but this is considered a "resort town" so we're usually about 10cents a gallon more expensive than Niles or BentonHarbor/St.Joseph.

Of course, the gas station closest to my home is one of those "only gas station off the interstate exit" ones, where they gouge you -- there it's usually 20 - 30 cents a gallon MORE than the rest of the world, because all we have is a gas station and a MickeyD's.
Which is a pain in the butt during the summer, because I'm always trying to decide which is cheaper -- getting gas for the lawn mower there, or driving the extra distance and using up gas both ways to drive to a cheaper station. Usually, I just pay more for the convenience of closer, so I can get the grass mowed that much sooner.

Funny, today sitting on the lawn mower and just vegging out there, being outside, sounds good. (but it never does in August!)

Okay, my rambling rant is done...

  3. Yeah, this conversion from gallons to litres and farenheight to centagrade is VERY confusing to me as an American. Just can't get used to it!
    Have a great weekend.

  7. I'm so glad that the Democratic House has passed legislation to reduce tax reductions for oil and gas companies. Exxon certainly doesn't need any more of our $$$.
