Trip #9, Cedar Point

You guessed it! We've just returned from Cedar Point!
With more coasters(17) than any park in the world!
(that's what they say on their web site)
And here's a pic of me taking a break
after setting up camp.
We stayed at what they call Camper Village.
Cedar point is on a long peninsula,
and Camper Village is way at the end,
right on Lake Erie. We were in site 178,
in Circle "B". the orange star. Why they call it "B",
I'm not sure. There is no circle "A". I'm thinking
they took it out when they put in the Soak City Water park right to the south of "B".

The circle campground is the oldest. Most of the sites are dirt or gravel. Some have asphalt like ours. There are 2 other sections with cement pads and full hook-up. We had just electric. But we were only there 2 nights, and didn't want to spend the extra money. They also have many cabins you can rent. Some with decks on Lake Erie. But they'll set you back $280.00 a night! Yikes!
We got 2 nights in the circle campground,

2 twilight tickets to the park,
2 day tickets to the park,
4 Challenge Park tickets,
buy one get one free tickets to Soak City,
all for $225.00.
A much better deal.
And here's a few pics of the park.
The first is near the main entrance
looking into the park.

The next is Max Air.
Not a coaster, but a very fun ride!
Besides the swinging action,
the spoke rotates also!
We arrived Saturday after work,
and went into the park that evening.
I've never seen Cedar Point so crowded!
They even had long lines on the
not so great coasters.
So we didn't do much that evening.
Turned in early, so we could get an early jump the next morning.
When you stay at any of Cedar Points resorts,
you get into the park an hour earlier than general admission.
So that means 9am instead of 10am.
So we got up early enough for our coffee, and got in the entry line at 8:30. There were already about 30 people,
and the line quickly grew.
They opened the gates at 9 sharp,
and the kids took off running!
Now Craig and I are not runners,

so we walked at a good clip,
heading for the newest ride, the Maverick!
Got there, and waited only 10 minutes or so.
It was an awesome ride!
Being the newest coaster in the park,
the line was expanding quickly when we got off,
so instead of waiting for another chance,
it was off to the Millennium Force!
The tallest coaster at Cedar Point!
And our favorite coaster!
Here's a view of the first hill.
After that ride, we still had 10 minutes
to get to the Raptor, before the main gates opened at 10.
And we got there just in time! No wait at all!
This is my second favorite ride!
Here's one of the loops on Raptor.
We then headed over to Wicked Twister, and Max Air.
After those we decide to take a break, headed back to the mo-ho, for some refreshments, and out to the pier to relax and watch the boats.
Went back in the park later, (not near so busy as Saturday) had some of the best wings at the Game Day Grill, watched some of the Olympics, then off for some more rides! it was a perfect day! And apparently quite tiring.
Later, after we got back to the mo-ho,
I came out to catch Craig
taking a little nappy.
I think I wore him out with all the activities. tee hee!
And as always, click the pics for a bigger view.
And if you want to see all my pics, there here!

  1. I don't want to grow up I'm a Rollercoaster kid!

ROFL I find it funny that you guys still love coasters so much. I'm not necessarily commenting on your age. It just seems like most people are good without them once they hit somewhere in their late 30's or so. lol

Sounds, again, like you guys really had a great time and the pictures are nice too! :)

  2. Glad you had a good time, yep not a fan of rollercoasters any more, maybe because I have been away from them too long.

  3. I wonder if the crowds were not a result of the surge in "stay-cations" this summer. When we passed one of our local amusement parks this past Sunday, the cars were pouring into the park as fast as they could and had traffic snarled for miles in all directions - much more than usual.
