What was I thinking!

On Thanksgiving Day morning, we had our coffee, read the paper, and looked through all the ads for the day after. Since we work on Fridays, we never get the chance to go our and shop the day after Thanksgiving. And usually, we never see anything worth getting up for that early for anyway. But I noticed in the Staples ad they were
selling a 8 gig flash drive, normally
$44.99 for only $12.99.
They also had blank DVDs ,
normally $26.99 for only $4.95.
And Staples was opening at 6 am.
I had to be to work at 7:30, so
I thought I'd swing by there
on my way to work and pick them up.
I got there Friday morning at 6:45.
The parking lot was jammed!
I thought they all must
be at the Walmart next door.
I walk in and the 6 checkout lanes snaked
half way back through the store!
This is a office supply store!
What were all these people buying?
Is ink jet paper the new Christmas must have?
I thought I'll never get out in time for
work with these lines, so I turned and left.
I mean the 2 items I wanted normally go on
sale for half price, So I'd only be saving about $20
on the 2. Definitely not worth standing in line for an hour.
And I'll probably find them on sale about that price
before Christmas with the way retailers are cutting prices this year anyway. Do any of you do this crazy Black Friday shopping?
I certainly won't again!

  2. You couldn't pay me to shop on Black Friday either. Did you hear about the person who was trampled to death at a Wal-Mart in NY? Just crazy!

  3. We went after a portable GPS navigation system for the car.....$150 off regular price. We were in and out with no problem. And stopped for breakfast on the way home.

Wayne, we also never shop on Black Friday. Actually, we are not big Christmas Shoppers.... just a few family things and I usually get them just before Christmas.

We give each other little surprises all during the year. :o)

I never go shopping on Black Friday. Most of the people ahead of you were probably there the day before too.

    People are so rude on Black Friday. >:{

You heard what happened in New York, right? *shakes head* There is nothing worth that sort of rudeness. What are people teaching kids? That things are worth more than manners and such. :(
