Traverse City trip, part 2

Good morning.
I've just returned from cleaning the Salon, and so this will be a quick post as we have a bunch of stuff to accomplish today.
To continue on with our Saturday, after lunch and window shopping, we went out to the Traverse City Commons. Site of the old State Psychiatric Hospital. It closed down in the 60's i think. Anyway, they have been trying to rehab the place. It's a huge complex covering hundreds of acres of land, and dozens of buildings.
The large main building has been converted to shops, restaurants and condo's.
The shops are in what's called the main level, which is actually a garden level. Half in the ground and half out.
They've got these cool old stones for the lower lever foundation.

We weren't able to check out any of the 2nd or 3rd floor condo's because they have all been sold.
The area around the buildings are park like with many gardens and trails. A real pretty setting in the city.
They also have plans for one of the building to be turned into a boutique hotel.
It would be fun to come back in a few years to see it developed further, as less than 1/3 of the building have been remodeled.
The, before we headed back to the campground, we stopped at a Holiday Inn on the bay and had a couple of cocktails on their patio.

It was a very nice day.  ;-)
