ReplyDeleteI'll pose a (serious) question to you and to your reader somewhat distantly related to your #4: Is there any other word in English that begins with "su" that is pronounced as if it were "shu" other than "sure"? A couple of us were talking about it the other day when we passed a Mom and Pop grocery store that sold the "Shur Fine" products. We could not come up with any.
I have heard that "if we live long enough", the area that is now Niagara Falls will one day just be a series of rapids going from Lakes Erie to Ontario. There will be no falls.
