Good afternoon.
Summer has arrived in the desert! It's in the low 90's this week, but thankfully only 1% humidity.
Here's a few pics from my morning walks.....
Yes, you can grow iris in the desert!
And the desert is an amazing place to grow roses!
And the ponds in the golf course attack an array of wildlife.....
Another view of the snow capped Spring Mountains off to the west.
My Fingerling Cactus in full bloom!
Spent the last couple of days looking at new phones.
Our current phones are fairly old and I was informed that on Jan of 2021, they will no longer work on their upgraded network. They are moving to 5G, and our current phones work on 3G. So....I went online and finally found newer phones. I won't spend the money they want for the latest phones. But of course, I did make sure they will be compatible with their new 5G. The main difference will be a larger screen, more memory, better camera and internet connectivity. So that will be nice.
I also cut a neighbors hair. People are starting to really look shaggy with day 44 of Nevada's stay at home order. A neighbor called and said she was going to cut her husbands hair and wondered if I could come over and give her tips. So I put my mask on and went over. She didn't have a clue what she was about to do, so I said I'd do it. It was easier and quicker that way. :-)
And now, she's bringing us takeout ribs for dinner to thank me. I said she didn't need to do anything, but she insisted.
I do like ribs!
So, our Governor, has extended the stay at home order through May 15th. He is allowing golf courses to open, and non essential retail to open, but only for curbside pickup. And everyone must wear face coverings in grocery stores. Doesn't sound like they'll open the casino's until maybe June or July.
But I can't imagine a lot of people wanting to come to Vegas right now anyway.
The only way we'll ever get back to 'normal' will be when they have a vaccine.
But for us, thankfully, things are going well. We're pretty much home bodies anyway.
Take care, and stay safe!

One big puzzle!
Good morning.
Well, I found a puzzle that might just get me through the entire pandemic!
It's 28 ft long, 6 ft wide, and has 51,000 pieces!
Of course, I'd have to take half the furniture out of the living room, and do it on the floor. And then still have to do part of it on the kitchen floor! A neighbor suggested we could close off half the street, and we all could work on it out there. And, at 28 ft long, we could still practice social distancing!
But the $445.00 price tag is a bit more than I want to spend on a puzzle. And can you imagine trying to dig through 51,000 pieces looking for one piece???
I'll stick to my 500 piece puzzles. :-)
Summer has all of a sudden arrived! We hit 80 yesterday, 90 for today, and they're projecting 100 by next Wednesday. I'm ready for some good dry heat!
I planted a bush in a neighbors yard. Another neighbor had one growing in a pot, and asked me if I'd like it for my yard. I really don't have any more space, so I suggested another neighbor, who had a bush die last year. Well, she's back in Minnesota for the summer, so I took it over, planted it, and put a couple of drippers on it. I'll spend the summer giving it extra water so it'll settle in good.
Had a dentist appointment today. Just a regular cleaning, but of course, the office is closed. They e-mailed me and said they would let me know when they reopen and then I can reschedule.
So, stay safe, and stay home. There is absolutely no place you need to go.

life is good.
Good afternoon.
Well, we've been in a stay at home order for about 4 weeks now, and things are just fine.
We can have food delivered, and even booze!
Here's a few pics from my morning walks.....
Sunrise on the Spring Mountains...
A massive rose bush in someones front yard....
Another batch of my breakfast muffins....
Of course, another puzzle.....
And we even got haircuts!
We're probably the only ones around with 'fresh' haircuts! :-)
So all in all, stuck in our nice home, with plenty of food and drink, life is good!

yard pics
Good afternoon.
Day 24 with most everything closed. Still doing good. But Craig and I didn't really go and do much before the lock down. Probably what we miss the most is going out to lunch occasionally, And going to the stores to wander and look. Now, we eat at home, and when we do go to the store, it's with a list, and we get in and get out.
Anyway, here's a few pic of the yard......
I've got a dentist appointment in a week and a half. Don't think they are open, but will call Monday to see what to do.
And here's a pic of my TV after I re scanned the channels.....
Yep, 96 channels! All from my antenna in the attic. Probably could get a few more if I put the antenna on the roof, but we're happy with these. Of course, a lot of them are Spanish, shopping, and info stuff, but we find plenty to watch. Just can't seem to justify the cost of cable.
I did venture out to the store this week. I seem to be going once a week now instead of nearly every day. But The store seems to be getting more stock on the shelves, except for any sanitizing stuff. But they did have toilet paper! And although we really didn't need any right now, I did pick up a 6 pack.
I did wear my mask and felt funny with it on. About 30 % of the customers wore them. But none of the employee's. You would think they would be the one's to be wearing them, but maybe the store wants to look as normal as possible.
So, three weeks in, and we're doing just fine. It does help I get out every morning and walk for about an hour. And we have our nice little back yard to sit out in.

I'm a seamstress!
Good morning.
I made my first face mask to wear to the store.....
I used some old flannel pillow cases, and the elastic that was in the fitted sheet. And a pipe cleaner for the nose area. I read flannel is one of the better materials for blocking particles.
Think it turned out pretty good! Of course, it won't give me a lot of protection, but the 'experts' think it'll help keep infected people from infecting others by covering their coughs. I have to admit, when I went to the store today, and saw over half the people wearing masks, it did make me feel safer.
So, stay home when you can, and if you must go out, be safe.

Day 14.
Good afternoon.
It's been 14 days since our Governor closed everything down. I read online that the Florida Governor finally did the same in his state. Hope it's not too late.
Life is good here staying at home.
Craig and I are really nesters anyway and really enjoy our home and little yard.
And we can still get outside. Here's a few pics from my morning walks......
Just love the mountains!
And the cactus are starting to bloom.....
And of course...the latest puzzles.....
Yes, I'm doing a puzzle every couple of days. Easy to do when Craig helps, and they're only 500 piece puzzles.
We only went out once this past week. I got some groceries at Smith's. I think next week, I'm going to order online and do the free pickup.
The weather has really warmed up! We hit 80 today for the first time this year. Should be 70's for a while.
I ordered some stuff from Amazon, that I would normally buy at Home Depot or Walmart. But I'm trying to go out around people as little as possible.
So stay home, and stay safe!
