busy, busy

Good afternoon. Sorry for being so late today. I've been very busy and just didn't get a post done this morning. Did you miss me? Hello! Anyone there?
Anyway, I went in and cleaned the Salon, and after that decided to replace the washer lid.
As you can see, the old lid was rusting away something fierce. Almost every time I opened it to do a load of towels, a chunk would fall in. I had ordered a replacement some weeks ago, but discovered it was going to take a bit of time to replace. Well, I did that this morning. And doesn't the new one look good?

Why it was rusting, I haven't a clue. Except they just don't make things the way they use to. And of course, it took longer than expected. the little bolts that hold the door arms had star indents, so a regular phillips or straight screwdriver wouldn't work. I had to run home and get my drill set to get one that fitted. Why can't they make a standard for everything instead of needing hundreds of different tools? But anyway, when I went to leave for work, I couldn't get my cell phone to turn on. So I figured it was a weak battery, and plugged it in and took Craig's. Well, 3 hours later and still no power. So it's a bad battery or a dead phone. I went online to find a new battery, and I can get a new phone cheaper. Go figure. So I ordered a new one for $14.95. And when it arrives, I'll transfer my phone number and minutes. And that phone isn't even 1 year old! It is probably still under warranty, but with the time to send it in and wait for it to come back, it's worth it to just buy a new one.

Then we booked another camping trip. You can only book state parks 6 months in advance. I was 4 days late and there were only 9 spots left in the campground, but we got a pretty good one.

So that was my busy morning. And the rest of the day, I'm not doing much. Except catching up on my blogs, and playing games.

Good morning, and a happy Friday to all who are nearly done with the work week.

It's been a so-so week work wise. Not overly busy, but no drama either. The only interesting thing that has happened was last evening. Craig and I were home from work for about an hour, when we received a call from one of the new stylists. She had just left the Salon and locked up, and when she was leaving in her car, noticed that the now empty coffee shop 2 doors from us had the door wide open. Being late (around 9pm) and dark, she didn't want to venture in, so went home and called me. I knew that earlier in the day, there had been workers roaming around the mall doing something, so I expected that someone forgot to lock the door when they were done. But it shouldn't have been left open. Since the landlord lives in Detroit, (about a 2 hour drive from Lansing) I didn't want to bother him with something not very important. I mean the space is empty. Nothing for anyone one to take, and the only business in the entire mall open that late was a restaurant/bar at the other end of our wing. So most likely, no one would even have seen the door open. So Craig and I decided to drive back in and check it out. When we arrived, sure enough, the door was wide open. Upon further inspection, found that the door had no closer rod on it meaning there was nothing to shut the door automatically after you open it. So I closed it and could tell it might just open back up on it's own, so I looked around and found a rock to prop up against it. With that done, we went back home. I'll call the landlord this morning so he can get someone out to lock it back up.

And for dinner the last 2 evenings, we had left over turkey tetrazzini. I think it was almost better the 2nd and 3rd time!

And that's all I got for now.

Have a great weekend!

a shorty

Another lazy day yesterday. The only 'work' I did was shovel the path to the back of the house so the meter reader can get to it, and ran the mo-ho generator and checked the water level in the mo-ho 'house' batteries. Since I leave the mo-ho plugged in all winter for the sonic pest repelers, the water tends to 'disappear' over time, so I usually need to add water every couple of months.
The rest of the day was spent pretty much on the puter catching up on blogs, surfing, and playing games.
The weather forecast for the upcoming weekend is calling for 40's! Maybe spring is on it's way!
For dinner we had bacon burgers. Lean turkey burgers with lean turkey bacon. Really quite good! And with home made oven fries.
So a short post today, since life here is pretty boring right now. But sometimes, boring is good!

still winter here

Hello all.
The temps have been a little more moderate this week. Highs in the low 30's. Still around a foot of snow on the ground.
I did manage to get some work done yesterday. I scrubbed down the kitchen.
I also called and spoke to my Mom. She seems in good spirits. Has a few more weeks of healing before they can start working on her walking again. In the meantime she's getting therapy to keep the joints moving so it'll be an easier transition.
And then I spent the rest of the day playing a new game I downloaded, Traffic Giant. Another city building game where you build bus and train routes to satisfy the city population. I can play these games for hours!
Also, while we were watching TV Sunday evening, we started hearing a series of beeps. 3 beeps every 10 seconds or so. Finally tracked it down to our security keypad. The trouble light was on. I don't even know what the trouble light is for! So Craig called the alarm company, but only got the monitoring person who said all our systems checked good and we'd have to call Monday morning and speak to a service tech. So this morning Craig called and they ran a check on our system, and it said we have a weak battery. So it's good we don't need a service call. They recommended a place to go and get a new one. Batteries Plus.
It's a NP7-12 and of course you need to go to a special battery store to get it. But I checked online, and with shipping, it'll be nearly the same price. So today we'll go pick one up and replace it. And for dinner yesterday, Craig made a delicious stew!

I should have taken a pic before he added the biscuits, but I didn't. He uses refrigerated dinner rolls instead of making dumplings. The main difference is after the stew is done cooking on the stove, you add the rolls and put in in the oven so they'll brown. And did I say they it was delicious?
And that's all I got for this morning!

puzzles and food

Good morning.
Another fairly lazy Sunday. I did manage to clean out some kitchen drawers, but not much else. Played games on the puter, and we did finish puzzle #7. This one was fairly easy and fun to do. Just 2 more puzzles, and it'll be spring! (we hope)
Also booked a couple of more camping trips. Cedar Point in August, (love the coasters!) and back to Holly State Park for the Michigan Renaissance Festival.

And Craig made a new dish, Turkey Tetrazzini casserole. He gave me the honor of putting it in the oven just so I couldn't take a pic of him.
I must admit, the guy knows how to cook! It was yummy! And plenty of leftover for the work week. And for the recipe, it's right here!
